Can You Hear Me Yet?

August 25, 2011

What a surprise to discover that in between yesterday morning and this morning all the smiley face signs were replaced by fresh, new no trespassing signs. Now I am going to be waiting in anticipation to see how long it will take the smiley face bandit to strike again! If he/she does, indeed. SFB, I indeed hear you! And the desert plants do as well, based on the configurations that I see as we proceed on our morning walk. The antenna bars are up and at ‘em, as documented above.

Last night we had a very short but intense rain storm, complete with lightening and thunder. Our walk thing morning revealed another drop dead gorgeous view of the mountains. There is something Tolkienesque about the view. Reminds me of the description of the misty mountains. Instead of dragons there are geckos. Or maybe there are dragons and we haven’t run into them yet? Ha. Don’t be fooled, the dragons out here are the real estate investors that are snapping up homes at auctions and turning them around at ridiculous prices that people are smart enough not to buy. But enough about them. Yesterday we drove through the Troon Mountain, Rio Verde, McDowell Mountain and Fountain Hills sections and there are gorgeous mountain views everywhere. In those areas it’s more about the backdrop. It’s a marked contract to the Old Scottsdale areas, where the architecture is reflective of the Palm Springs style and just as old, with more “me centric” buildings than showcasing the natural beauty of the environment. I think the world needs developers with more class and environmental awareness. They’re out there, in them thar hills up north.
