Sunday, Monday

May 22, 2011

One thing I noticed is that Sunday isn’t Sunday anymore.  It doesn’t have that “Oh my god, tomorrow the grind starts  again” anticipation.  What a blessing, which I deeply appreciate.

Although Spring has decided to go back into hibernation on the back of a stiff afternoon wind, our pepper plants are growing and blooming.  There is even the start of a pepper bulb in one of the flowers!  The rose plant is doing well despite the aphids, which I cheerfully blast off the plant with the aid of the jet setting on my hose.  The spiders have been busy, but they are outnumbered by the aphids and need help.  I manage to get a rose cutting for the mantle place.  There is a surreptitious animal or insect that likes to decapitate them just as they are blooming, so I take the preemptive strike.

All these microcosmic activities going through their cycles every day.  How can people be out there broadcasting and looking forward to the end of the world!  In many ways the world – as we know it – ends every day, but it is constantly reborn through another phase or transformation.  That’s a good thing.  I will continue to work on finishing my Lake Tahoe granite sock!  I intend to be able to wear it, apocalypse or not!
